Hola!
I’m Iris Calderón, a print and textile designer originally from Guadalajara, Mexico and now living in San Francisco.
I have a deep passion for textiles. Wherever I travel, I collect scraps of fabric and visit textile artisan communities. My career as a designer began with a simple tote bag made out of a fabric I fell in love with. I designed the bag specifically for the regular things I was always carrying around: my laptop, art supplies, a book, and my notebook.
My friends wanted an identical bag, and then their friends, and soon I was selling bags, luggage, and household items at craft fairs and trade shows throughout Mexico. I named my company Turleza and opened a small storefront in Mexico City, where I sold a variety of products to a loyal community of customers.
While I was collecting fabrics to make new products, I dreamed of using my own illustrations and patterns to design the materials myself. Fast forward a few years and I’ve developed a portfolio of prints and pattern collections for fashion and home decor. All of my designs are available for sale or licensing.

Here’s a little more about me:
I love screen printing! When I’m not printing my own designs and patterns, I help others at San Francisco’s Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts. I also enjoy block printing on natural fibers with natural dyes. And my newest passion is weaving.
When I’m not working with textiles and screen printing, I enjoy exploring San Francisco, its coffeeshops and bookstores on my bike. I reconnect with myself when I hike in nature. I relax by walking my dog, Coco. And a slice of pie is always a good idea.
